NEW WALL SHELVES MADE FROM APPLE CRATES & A WINNER!!

I've had this blank space of wall above my love seat for a while now.  I tend to be the kind of person who leaves walls blank until I know exactly what I want to put there.  I've been wanting to do some sort of shelving there, to host a few books, chotchkie's and so on, but I really wasn't sure how I wanted to go about it.
.
Then the other day I spied this picture on Pinterest.

I had a few fruit boxes laying around that I picked up at an estate sale, so I decided to do a little mini version of this.  Here is how it came out;

Though they are  not the prettiest fruit boxes, they work great, and I can always switch them out later if I can get my hands on some like in the picture above.

I picked up that multi colored book set and the cool old Polaroid camera at Value Village just the other day. I love the way they look on the shelves.  Also, I added a few personal mementos, like the two Ayers Sarsaparilla bottles and my husbands baseball signed by Willie Mays. I even found a spot for my old bug terrarium that I had when I was a kid.  Actually, I don't think I ever really used it for bugs, when I was little, I used to catch humming birds.  (I figured out a silly trick to catch them really easily.) I used to keep them for a few hours in the cage and feed them sugar water before my parents would make me let them go.  In retrospect, I know it wasn't very satisfying to the hummingbirds, having to be stuck in a small cage for a few hours, poor things.  Though, being able to catch a hummingbird, made me think I was pretty special.

I love this old army picture of my Dad, he looks so handsome, and two of our favorite friends gave us that flaming sacred heart for our wedding.

I have a friend who lives in Bali, who gave me this little Angel that I love.
.
I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome, though I'm pretty certain I will switch out the boxes one of these days.  I love how versatile fruit and wine crates can be!

Please send me an email with your address, and I will mail out your fruit cozy's this week!!

A big THANK YOU to the few people that left comments and became followers.  It's so great to see a few new faces come out of the woodwork!  I hope yall will stick around!

I love those shelves! And Value Village. That place is amazing... I love shopping there for props for my blog and then bringing home a ton of books for the kids. I may have developed an addiction to cheap books...
